It’s time to think about coding like you do about learning a new language or learning a musical instrument. Code is quickly becoming the universal language of communication, connecting more than two billion people around the world who use the Internet regularly. Introducing young people to the cornerstone of the digital world – code – will make not only those who use technology, but also those who create it.
They learn the basic principles of interaction and communication with computers to create and run applications, websites, video games and many other things on their own. It is important to note that developing these skills and ways of thinking in time and opening job opportunities in companies that are struggling with the need for professional skills can be beneficial for both young people who find a way them in the world and for our future economy.
Teaching Coding
Coding has wonderful benefits for young people, teaching skills that go beyond the computer screen – critical thinking, creativity, problem solving and perseverance, all while having fun! Children between the age of five, in their first grades, can begin to understand concepts and learn coding skills and logic. When incorporated into the curriculum and taught well, coding can be very interesting, but it can also be difficult for teachers who are unsure about the subject themselves. Fortunately, teachers are not alone, and for those with no privacy experience, there are many helpful resources, websites, and apps to make privacy fun for kids, and hopefully spark a lifelong interest. and privacy and employment in STEM subjects. For example, Scratch – the world’s largest children’s coding community developed by the MIT Media Lab – provides a visual programming language and website for eight-year-old children that allows them to create digital stories, games and presentations. while stimulating mathematical thinking, creativity, self-expression and collaboration. To provide teachers and students with these easy-to-access and interactive secret learning materials, SMART Technologies used the Scratch system to create fun and educational activities for teachers through their Lumio digital learning platform. There are many bright resources out there and as the world moves closer to a digital future and the skills gap widens, we need to prepare the next generation of kids with the competitive edge they want to enter a career in technology. companies are in desperate need of those skills. The key to instilling the right skills and closing this gap will be to develop a mature mathematics curriculum from the primary school years that integrates coding with things like thinking in lateral learning. all, and prepares children to become future engineers, game developers. and digital-focused creative thinking that society demands.
